Exposition écomusée de la pêche et du lac
Opened in 1987, the Fishing and Lake Ecomuseum naturally found a home in a fishing village in the Port de Rives. Set up in three traditional huts, it keeps alive the memory of professional fishermen in Lake Geneva, but also reflects their work today.
Old and new boats, engines, fishing nets and traps are displayed, giving a wide view of the tools used in lake fishing. A slide-show presents their life and work in all four seasons. The museum traces the development of local fishing techniques, from the «big pick» to catching signal crayfish. Then set off to meet some representatives of the fish community «in flesh and bones» in four special aquariums. Noble species (perch, vendace, Arctic char) or less noble (carp, roach) will swim before your eyes. You can also see an exhibition of stuffed lakeside birds so that you will immediately recognise them when you see them in their natural environment!
